The Garmin Aera 560 also features an automotive mode. When driving, the Garmin Aera 560 will operate the same as Garmin's popular Nuvi line of Automotive GPSs. The Aera 560 has a complete North American Street database and it provides turn-by-turn guidance. It also has Bluetooth wireless technology for hands free calling in the car. In addition it has "Lane Assist" which provides information regarding the lane that you need to be in while navigating. It also has junction view which provides a realistic image of some major junctions. You can also receive NAVTEQ traffic updates by purchasing the optional GTM20.

The Garmin Aera 560 also includes an XM Weather antenna for providing Nexrad Radar, Satellite Mosaic, Echo Tops, Winds Aloft, Lightning Strikes, METAR, Terminal Forcasts, Airmets, Sigmets, PIREPS, and Freezing Level Data.
