Features
Sierra
is built on the foundation of the Lightspeed 3G Series (30/3G and
20/3G). Lightspeed has made significant breakthroughs in
the
durability and appearance of an all-plastic headset, while also making
improvements to the overall noise attenuation and comfort in our
mid-market
line. Limited Bluetooth connectivity
(cell phone only) and microphone reversibility have also been introduced
on
Sierra, making it the most feature-rich headset in the $600-700 price
range.
What are the differences between the Sierra and the Zulu?
Zulu
remains the lightest, quietest, most comfortable, and most feature rich
over
ear headset in the market. While a very quiet and comfortable headset in
its
own right, Sierra's all-plastic construction make it heavier, less
quiet, and
noticeably less comfortable than Zulu on longer flights.
Zulu users are able to completely cut the
cord to auxiliary devices through fully featured Bluetooth that enables
full
stereo music streaming (A2DP) - taking full advantage of iPhone and
other
smartphone capabilities. Sierra users will have Bluetooth connectivity
for cell
phone functionality, but must use a wire to listen to music on any
device. While Zulu comes in multiple models for
panel
power, coiled cord, and various plugs, Sierra only comes in a
battery-powered,
dual GA plug version with a reversible mic boom.
What headsets are comparable to the Sierra?
Customers
who are also considering the Sennheiser HMEC 400 Series, David Clark X11
or
10-13X, Telex Stratus 50 or 30 Series, or Beyerdynamic HS 600 will find
the
Sierra to be an excellent choice. Sierra's
combination of industry leading active noise reduction, comfort
improvements,
and features like Bluetooth cell phone and auxiliary audio player input
capability make it stand out from other headsets. As
always, we encourage customers to take
advantage of the 30 day risk free trial to find out for themselves.
