Designed by a group of European aircraft manufacturers as an extremely responsive, versatile aircraft that is well suited for combat, air-to-surface strike operations and aerial reconnaissance, this Eurofighter Typhoon, named, “Sword of Boelcke,” is utilized as a multirole fighter jet in the German Air Force, and has served in the Tactical Air Force Wing 31 in Nörvenich.
Unveiled in 2021 in a striking thematic livery with the “Sword of Boelcke” emblazoned on the aircraft’s fuselage with the squadron crest adorned on the delta wing, ominous thunderstorm-like flashes of lightning prominently stand out against the aircraft’s dark blue fuselage, symbolic of speed and energy, foreboding attributes to be heeded by enemy troops. As a small yet noteworthy detail, the silhouettes of the squadron’s previous deployment patterns have also been cleverly incorporated into the livery.
